Alon Rosin

Managing Director and Head of US Institutional Equity Derivatives at Oppenheimer & Co.

Alon Rosin has built a long-standing reputation in institutional trading and derivatives strategy through nearly three decades of experience across both the buy side and sell side of financial markets. He currently serves as Managing Director and Head of US Institutional Equity Derivatives at Oppenheimer & Co., overseeing the firm’s institutional derivatives business and advising major clients on listed equity options and sophisticated market strategies.

Alon developed a unique perspective throughout his career by working directly within hedge funds and by leading institutional sales operations on Wall Street. This dual experience helped him understand how investors think about risk management, liquidity, positioning, and volatility during both stable and turbulent market cycles. His ability to operate effectively on both sides of institutional investing has distinguished him from many professionals in the derivatives industry.

Alon graduated Cum Laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1997 after earning Dean’s List recognition in earlier academic years. Following graduation, he joined the Sales and Trading training program at Salomon Brothers, which later became part of Citigroup. His early exposure to fast-moving institutional markets helped shape the disciplined decision-making style that later became central to his leadership approach.

Alon Rosin later expanded his expertise while working at firms such as J. Goldman & Co. and Diamondback Capital, where he served as a portfolio manager and senior trader. These positions gave him firsthand exposure to managing risk, identifying opportunities, and handling the pressure that comes with major trading decisions. Before joining Oppenheimer, he also led Institutional Sales for Derivatives and Equities in the Americas at BGC Partners, strengthening relationships with institutional investors across multiple markets.

Alon has played a major role in expanding Oppenheimer’s institutional derivatives platform by building stronger relationships with buy-side firms and enhancing the firm’s listed options capabilities. During his leadership, he co-led the acquisition of Guggenheim’s options desk, adding several professionals to the institutional derivatives team and significantly expanding the firm’s market presence. His strategic leadership has helped position Oppenheimer as a stronger competitor within institutional equity derivatives.

Alon has also gained public attention for his market observations during periods of extreme volatility. In April 2025, he drew significant interest after advising investors to cover short positions during a major market downturn associated with the so-called DJT Tariff Tantrum. The prediction attracted attention because it reflected the conviction and experience gained through years of navigating difficult market conditions and understanding investor psychology during periods of panic.

Alon has remained active in charitable initiatives and community involvement for more than fifteen years. He has contributed to numerous philanthropic causes and charity events, often without public attention. During a charity poker tournament supporting Hillel programs, he donated $21,000 and finished second. Outside the financial industry, he enjoys golf, tennis, padel, skiing, and international travel while maintaining strong personal relationships with colleagues and friends.

Alon Rosin continues to stand out for the perspective he has developed over multiple market cycles and across leadership roles in institutional investing. His career reflects a consistent focus on preparation, market intelligence, client relationships, and strategic growth. As he continues leading Oppenheimer’s US Institutional Equity Derivatives business, he remains focused on helping institutional clients navigate evolving markets while building a high-performing team prepared for future opportunities and long-term success.
